Mom Calls 911 After Seeing Gunman on Walmart Property

Moments after watching a military demonstration on South Carolina’s Main Street, it became clear this was no ordinary shopping trip.

While at Walmart, a woman banged on a garage door and frightened someone inside, prompting her to call 911.

Business owners said they hoped someone was waiting for them, not the worst kind of movie.

Turns out, she was calling from a Walmart in the county just down the street.

The mother told them: “You’re headed our way. You’re going to kill the kids.”

So, cops and emergency personnel were dispatched.

The mother, Laura Whitfield, told FOX Carolina she did it out of “necessity” because she was scared of someone who was “exploding.”

In a statement, Walmart spokesman Steven Restivo said, “In an isolated incident, a mother took matters into her own hands, thinking her children would be at home alone after school, which was not the case. We remain committed to helping our customers with essential shopping needs in whatever way possible.”
